Fred Feeney is a respected speaker, U.S. Navy Veteran, nationally recognized Hall of Fame wrestling official, educator, mentor, and advocate for recovery whose life story is a powerful testament to resilience, accountability, and personal transformation.

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Fred discovered at the age of 8 that he had been adopted, a moment that profoundly shaped his identity and influenced many of the struggles that followed. As he navigated a difficult relationship with his adoptive father, Fred turned to alcohol and drugs at an early age in an attempt to cope with feelings of anger, rejection, and disconnection. For years, those battles threatened to define his future, bringing him to the edge...

But one life-changing moment altered the course of his journey. Fred then realized that moving forward was his sole responsibility.

That decision became the turning point that transformed his life. Today, Fred proudly celebrates more than 40 continuous years of sobriety and has dedicated his life to helping others understand the power of accountability, perseverance, healing, and purpose.

A proud Vietnam-era U.S. Navy Veteran, Fred carried the discipline and commitment he learned in military service into a remarkable career spanning decades in athletics, leadership, and education. He spent 36 years as a wrestling official and 20 years as a football official, rising to the highest levels of officiating in the country. His distinguished career includes officiating NCAA Wrestling Championships, Ohio State Championships, and numerous national tournaments across the United States and internationally.

Fred’s excellence and leadership earned him induction into both the Ohio Wrestling Officials Hall of Fame and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Beyond the mat and the field, Fred became widely respected for his dynamic teaching style and motivational training clinics, including his nationally recognized “Are You A Duck?” presentations delivered in more than 15 states. Known for his authenticity, humor, and direct communication style, Fred inspires audiences by blending hard-earned wisdom with practical lessons on leadership, responsibility, teamwork, recovery, resilience, and personal growth.

His commitment to service continues through his work with various organizations and their boards to support autism awareness and peer-to-peer recovery programs, where he helps individuals and families navigate some of life’s most difficult challenges.
